The Historic
Tabor Home

Museum

116 East 5th Street

Leadville Historic District

He was a stonecutter by trade, but struck it rich in Leadville in 1879, becoming a millionaire overnight. He was Leadville’s first mayor, Colorado’s Lt. Governor and a State Senator and his accomplishments are endless.  Horace Austin Warren Tabor and the rags to riches and back to rags story of the Tabor legacy remains one of the nation’s most intriguing true stories of all time.

And they say behind every successful man is a woman, and Augusta Tabor epitomizes that concept.  It was here in Leadville at this home (and now museum), that Horace and Augusta really started their humble lifestyle in Leadville.

Tours through this charming museum are available by contacting the City of Leadville.  Tour guides tell the entire story of the Tabors and the historical legacy they left behind.
